Mesquite Dodgeball Players Compete in Keller Dodgeball Tournament
13 December 2009

Two teams consisting of players who participate in pick-up dodgeball games at the Dunford Community Center in Mesquite, Texas recently competed in a dodgeball tournament held in Keller, Texas -- and one of the teams won the tournament! The tournament was held at Keller Pointe Community center on Saturday, Dec. 12th, 2009.

In addition to the teams from Mesquite, there were two teams consisting of firemen and a husband and wife team.

Jason Aguirre led the winning team, which consisted of hard-hitting players including Jonathan Harper, Alex Wakefield and Tom Wakefield. Rounding out the team were Chase Patterson, Gavin Russell, and Jake Herbert of the Duryea Movin Dodgers dodgeball team.

The other Mesquite team, led by Joseph Usry, consisted of good-catching players including Austin Keaton and Scott Bronson.

Unfortunately for Joe's team, the tournament used balls with a foam substance, making the balls harder to catch and easier to throw. This worked to the strengths of Jason's team which ruled the day. After Jason's team squeaked by Joe's team in the first set three games to two in a best of five, Jason's team didn't lose another game.

For people wanting to get in on the dodgeball fun, the next public games in Mesquite will be held on December 19th from 4-6 PM at the Dunford Community Center.
